Ever since Aaron and I started dating family, friends, co-workers, and strangers have always asked me the same questions about what it’s like being with a
weatherman Meteorologist. I have been thinking about starting a blog to answer such questions and to give you a peak inside the life of me: a Wife of a Meteorologist.
Question 1: How great is it to have someone tell you what the weather will be every day?
Answer: This is a fallacy. I hate to admit, but even though my husband is on TV almost every day, at different times of the day, and on different channels; I do not watch him. Before you judge me, please note he is on at strange times that differ day-to-day and week-to-week so I can’t really anticipate when he will be on. I also can’t stand watching the same news stories over and over and over again. I support him, but I’m doing pretty well when I see him do one segment. A lot of times I’d rather get caught up on my girl shows (Real Housewives of Orange County, Orange is the New Black, Mad Men, etc.) before he gets home, so these days, I hardly watch him at all. His way of getting back at me is by not telling me what the weather is going to be and telling me I should have watched the news. Touche.
On days he doesn’t work, I’ll ask him if i need a coat and his response is, “It’s my day off, I don’t know.”
Question 2: Hey Alyssa, What’s the weather going to be today.
Answer: Refer to Question 1 Answer.
Question 3: What’s it like being married to a guy who can be wrong at his job half the time?
Answer: (Big eye roll)…I often hold back my true urge to tell you to F*#K off, sarcastically of course…I then compose myself and say something along the lines of, “well, there is actually a lot of math and science that goes into meteorology. He majored in meteorology and got a minor in math and communications. Often his forecasting is a personal challenge to be the most accurate one in the market so he doesn’t just make it up and guess.”
Question 4: He works with really pretty reporters, do you ever get jealous?
Answer: Simply stated, No.
Question 5: Are you ever scared when he goes tornado chasing?
Answer: No. He’s a trained Meteorologist. He knows what he’s doing.
Hopefully this Q&A session has helped clear most common questions. Feel free to ask more!
